Two experienced Black Viper MWD engineers are provided onsite when you request our MWD service with gamma. They have a high level of expertise in MWD operations to ensure a successful outcome. Black Viper’s MWD tools are complex electronics devices to measure the inclination and azimuth of the wellbore. Data is displayed in real time while drilling, helping prevent crossing into areas you want to avoid.

The system provides toolface measurements to aid in directional drilling using downhole mud motors with bent subs or bent housings to properly characterize each zone during drilling operations.

Using the system’s array of software, you can accurately visualize the position of the toolface in real time. Log reports are frequently dispatched via satellite to your office as we work onsite with your drilling personnel. With an extremely reliable receiver and decoding system acquiring continuous data, our engineers program both surface and downhole systems to compensate for changing drilling conditions.

The MWD produces pulses that generate digital data by the use of a positive pulse system. Continuous wave telemetry sends the data to the surface via phase variations in the mud system where it is then decoded by computer. Our precision directional drilling instruments are available to run in a variety of pipe and collar diameters, from 3-1/2” to 9-1/2” and in flow ranges from 75 to 750 gpm. The MWD tool can usually be retrieved and replaced using wireline through the drill string if necessary. Individual components can be replaced in the field as needed. We use satellite communications to update well progress frequently so that you can see the actual well path in relation to the planned well path. Our engineers can easily configure the monitor screen to display a choice of operating functions and data.
